Pre-season news and views

The new season starts this Saturday (1st April) and sees the course in excellent condition. Let’s keep it that way and try to aid the staff in maintaining a course that we can rightly be proud to be a member of. Full course and handicap qualifiers from then on. (Weather permitting)

  • Therefore, remember the 3 Rs; Rake, Replace, Repair
  • Please remember to support your club by entering the weekly competitions and making yourself available to represent the club where possible.
  • And also as members you were allocated a hole to specifically look after according to your Surname. If in doubt check on the notice board in the clubroom.
  • Check out this website for a comprehensive list of this year’s club fixtures. External inter-club fixtures will be posted when we receive them.
  • This season we are back in the NAPGC. Our first fixtures are; Ladies mid-week greensomes this Monday afternoon and Gents betterball matchplay next Sunday (9.30). Both fixtures at home.
  • Entries for this season’s majors can now be made either via or directly onto the computer in the club room. Entry is £2 per competition so please check your funds before entering.
  • Mr.Captain (Dave Hoyland) is having an early season get together on the evening of Wednesday April 26th. This is a chance for members to do a little bit of course improvement and to have a social get together.
  • The Captain’s chosen charity this year is Lost Chord. Boxes where you can contribute your pounds for being in the bunker(s) are on the bar as usual.
  • For the May Open Day we are trying to resurrect the nearest the pin prize on all 18 holes. If you know of someone/a company who will sponsor a hole for £25 please see the Captain.





Course Update

The head greenkeeper has asked that all players be aware, that due to the state of the course, when it does reopen, there is a great possibility trolley will be banned, with carrying only permitted. Also the 4th hole will be on a winter green, and 5th Tee will be marked with sited cones. please adhere to the restrictions in order to ensure the course has every chance of recovering.

Presentation night

Presentation night this year will be on 19th November in the clubhouse. 6.30 for a 7.00 start.

This year’s evening will feature a Hog roast following the presentation and a disco to finish the night.

Golfer Of the Year

Congratulations to Golfer of the year 2015…….. Robin Sedgeley.

Crowned by club captain Peter Cator for his devotion to playing golf, representing the club whenever asked but always steps up to the mark, and all this while on crutches …… well done, we salute you!!!
